2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
12 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar, plus 3 tbsp. for rolling dough
2 large eggs
For Rolling Dough
1 tbsp. ground cinnamon
3 tbsp. sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300 degrees
1. Mix together the butter and sugars with an electric mixer on high speed in a large bowl. Add the egg and vanilla and continue to beat.
2. Combine the flour, salt, baking soda, and cream of tartar in another bowl.
3. Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until evenly distributed.
4. Roll dough into 1 1/2 inch balls.
5. Stir together sugar and cinnamon.
6. Gently roll dough balls through cinnamon/sugar mixture.
7. Bake for 12-14 minutes. Remove from oven allow them to cool for at least 15 minutes.
