Scavenger Hunt Sunday #7

Conversation Heart Pillows
Here you see my gift from Rob for Valentine’s Day. Keep an eye out for the funny story that goes along with this.

Duplicated
Jelly Fish
This weekend we went on a cub scout trip to the McWane Center in Birmingham, AL. What an awesome place! It’s a science museum that covers many types of sciences. I’ll be posting about this soon too. Anyway, the bottom floor was a favorite of many of the scouts. I love the Jelly Fish!

Trend
1st AU Baseball Game of the Season
Trending locally for me this weekend was AU Baseball. The boys and I went to the first game Friday afternoon. It was beautiful weather and they pulled out a win!

Paper
More signs of high school!
Teenager signed up for 9th grade classes and got this book that describes the courses and all the good stuff we need to know so he can graduate. I’m still not ok with this. 🙂

Valentine’s Gift Gone Wrong…Again

This year the Friday before Valentine’s Day we had a lovely dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse. Rob’s company paid for our dinner so we enjoyed a full 3 course meal. Here’s what we had:
Appetizer: Wild West Shrimp
Main Entres:
White Cheddar & Bacon Stuffed Filet (me)
Mashed Potatoes
Mixed Green Salad

Bacon Wrapped Filet (Rob)
Seasoned French Fries
Steakhouse Mac & Cheese

Dessert: LongHorn Dessert Sampler
It was an amazing dinner and we practically rolled out of there we were so full! Had leftovers to boot.

So on Valentine’s Day, I surprised him with a dozen D Squared Donuts. I got a card from him and later in the day I got a package. It was addressed to me, so I opened it and it was a cute heart-shaped pillow that said “Daddys Sweetheart.”

Not the right pillow!

Now remember my niece was staying with me, so my first thought was maybe my brother-in-law had surprised her with this, but my sis-in-law had given us money to get her a balloon that was from both of them. So then, I think we’ll maybe it’s from Rob, although, I think it’s kind of sick to call your husband Daddy usnless your talking to your kids! So I called him and asked if he sent a pillow. And he was like, “Yeeeeeeeessss…why?”
“Well, it just got delivered.”
“What did it say?”
“Daddy’s Sweetheart”
Needless to say, he was not happy and told me to get ready to box it back up because that was NOT what it was supposed to say. This is a company that prides themselves on the personalization of their items.

Later that evening he told me that the correct pillow would be here Thursday. Thursday the box came and they had included 2 pillows as you see here. With the correct wording. So I guess whoever ordered “Daddys Sweetheart” didn’t get their pillow, which is probably a good thing since there is supposed to be an apostrophe!

Heart Pillows

I love Rob so much and after many years of not celebrating Valentine’s I’m happy that we now celebrate it. Even if his gifts don’t show up when they’re supposed to or end up being something other than what he ordered.

Rob actually posted about it on facebook:

This week…

This week was been a whirlwind! One of our nieces, ‘Toady,’ stayed with us this week. Her parents (Rob’s sister and her hubby) are preparing to make a big move across country, so we agreed to keep Toady, who’s the oldest of three children. Every morning we would get up and I drove her about 45 miles to her Pre-K class. I hung out at their apartment for the 3 hours that she was there and then I’d pick her up and we drove back to Auburn. It’s been fun to be able to get to know her better. She’s so funny.

Here’s a few pics from the days she was here.

I hope that my sis-in-law and her family have a safe move across the country. We’re going to miss them sooo much! I’m thankful for the time I got to spend with my niece. 🙂

5. Interesting Hanger: After folding clothes, I pulled out some hangers and noticed this one. Made me laugh.

6. Pine Hills: Monday, I visited a very old cemetery here in Auburn. There are many well known names in the Auburn community buried there. I got some awesome pics that I’ll be using in a post when I get done editing, researching, and writing! 🙂

7. 2016 Graduation Requirements: When Teenager brought this home yesterday, I nearly broke down in tears! I can’t admit to myself that next year he will be considered a high school student. I don’t for sure why this bothers me so, but it really makes my stomach turn. That’s why I did the zoom in effect on the pic.

8. Cracked Sky: When I got home a little after midnight, I was admiring the sky. Got a shot of it! This pic doesn’t do the moon justice, though.

9. Squirrel: on my back deck. I was about to let my dog out when I noticed this little guy feasting away. I quickly went up to get my camera making sure to leave the dog in my bedroom. The less distractions the better. He hung out for a pretty long while even after he spotted me through the window!

The Story Of Us

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I’ve noticed many of my blogger friends have been linking up with From Mrs. to Mama. I decided to do it as well.

31. RBD Auditorium: I’ve always thought this room would make for some really cool pics. I finally got around to taking some pics of it, because soon these seats will be ripped out and this will become a computer lab. I had a class in this room a few weeks ago and these seats are dreadfully uncomfortable.

Library Story #2

Library Story

WARNING: Bathroom Story

So my first silly story is about something that just happened to me here at work. This lady comes up to the Circulation desk and talks to my student worker. I noticed that she had a look of disgust as she was talking. She walks off and my student worker tells me that one of the women’s bathroom is disgusting and that she can’t even use 4 of the stalls. Luckily that bathroom has 8 stalls. I get up to go see what she’s talking about. I’m like “wow, wonder what I’ll find in here.” I’m visualizing stuff smeared on the toilet or walls or nasty stuff on the floor. I’m thinking back to the days of having a 2 year old get loose in the bathroom.

I take a deep breath as I walk in, ready to hold my breath for what it may reek of. That doesn’t last long and I have to take a breath. sniff – sniff – sniff….”doesn’t smell bad? Well that’s a good sign.” I flick open the first stall, nothing. 2nd stall, little toilet paper on the floor and toilet needs to be flushed, nothing disgusting. 3rd stall, nothing, 4 stall, ok, a little more evidence that needs to be flushed, but still nothing that wouldn’t flush with ease. Checked the other stalls and only 1 more needed to be flushed. So I’m leaving the bathroom thinking, “this woman must not have children, because I’ve seen WAY worse!” I’ve also taught school so I’ve seen worse things in my classroom. I guess that woman just has a very low tolerance for that type thing.

=====

It really drives me crazy how I have not been taking the time to write about life, like I used to. Maybe it’s because I feel my readers (all 3 of them) will get board or find it totally mundane. Which a lot of life stories probably are, but they are MY stories. When I don’t take the time to record them, they’re memories that will be short lived. Putting my life in writing makes it real, makes it where I can come back in 5 years and read what silly little things were going on. I love doing that now. I enjoy so much going back and laughing at the stupid little things that made me laugh or even cry back then. Get my drift?

I’m really going to make it a point to write about life. I also need to carry around a notebook and use it to jot down things that the kids say or that hear or see in passing, because I forget!
