Randomness from last week

-Drew washed his cell phone in the washer. There was a loud banging noise after I started up the dryer, so I stopped it to see what was in there. I was happy it wasn’t an ink pen, but was really sad to see it was his phone. We haven’t tried the rice trick yet, because I don’t have any plain rice to put it in. We just have it sitting out with the battery separated from the phone. So we’ll see…..

-I was given a free frozen coffee drink at McDonald’s. I’ve never had anything like that before. Unfortunately, I liked it.

-I was given a free Cookies and Cream shake at Chick-Fil-A. Not sure why people keep giving me free stuff, but I don’t mind. 🙂

-I went to check Drew out of school Friday and the principal stopped to ask me if I was getting checked out. In other words, she thought I was a student. Needless to say I was taken aback, but I think she was even more when I said I was there to check out my child from school!

-Forgot one thing… Daisy came to the back door wanting to come in. When Rob went to let her in, he noticed something dangling from her mouth. She attempted to come in with her “gift.” She had a squirrel and was obviously quite proud of her accomplishment. Everyday she makes an attempt at catching one. This all happened when I was at work, so I read about it on Facebook. My response was “no wonder her breath smells like death!”

Sunday Snapshot {Soccer}

AuburnThunderSoccerStateCup2012-Wk1 - 24
Today Drew played in the 2nd of game of the State Cup. He got to play on the field with the stadium type bleachers and a press box. I like this shot because it looks like he’s running on air.

Photography/editing blurb:
I cropped this a bit and I debated whether to crop out the other pair of legs in the right hand corner. I didn’t want to crop it in a portrait style and I also didn’t want to cut off Drew’s legs, so I think the only way to crop would be in a square. I wasn’t real excited about that either…thoughts?

Scripture Picture {Romans 6:4}

We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

Friday Letters

Photobucket

Dear Dr. Principal,
I’m flattered that you think I’m an 8th or 9th grader. Although, I find it sad that my child says you don’t know any of the students and he’s not surprised you would make such mistake. Now that you have your PhD, maybe you should work on getting to know your parents and students.
Not meaning to sound sarcastic, just stating the way I feel…
MM

Dear Magnolia Mom (that’s me),
Don’t take a offense when people from other departments call your department, hear your voice and assume that you are a student. Take this as a compliment. You have a clear, cheery voice that could easily be mistaken for a college student any day of the week!
Love,
Your cheery self

Dear house,
Why don’t you clean yourself?
That’s all,
MM

Dear Teenager,
Yes, I’m going to worry about you. Don’t take offense when I remind of things that I know deep down you don’t need reminding of. I love you and as you get older, I’m probably going to worry about you more than I did when you were little. It’s simply because you are getting older, earning more responsibility and therefore, are not under my supervision much. I trust that when you are out and about without me, that you will make the right decisions. I know deep down I don’t have to worry, but it’s in my nature, so just go ahead and get over it.
Love you much,
Mom

Reason #1,670 that I love living in Auburn

I just love living in Auburn. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We are so lucky to live here for so many reasons. When we’re visiting other towns and they have city events like this and they charge, I just feel so thankful that every spring I know we can go just down the road and enjoy a day of free fun and entertainment. Live music, other live entertainment, bouncy houses for the kids, lots of free stuff, art vendors, yummy food. It’s great! This year the boy scouts had a booth, which I talked about here.

Here’s a few pics that I took.

April’s End of the Month Summary

This month I was happy about: spending Easter with my family.

This month I was sad about: this and not doing my weekly photo posts; not for the lack of taking pics, just unmotivated and unable to match prompts.

Something I accomplished this month is: eating healthier and exercising.

Something new I did was: visit Oglethorp University, while Drew attended a soccer clinic.

Books I read were:
From May to December (awesome book! one of my all time favs)
Coney Detroit (makes ya hungry!)
Beautiful Ambition (suffered through it)
Uglies (got to p. 20 something and decided this book was not for me)
Dancing Lessons (just started)
Bridge to Terabithia (just started)

Movies I watched were:
This Time Around (Disney)

TV Shows I watched were:
How I Met Your Mother (Season 1)
Real Housewives of Atlanta (bleh!)
Gilmore Girls
16 and Pregnant
Hungry Girl (Cooking Channel)
Drop 5 lbs(Cooking Channel)

With Rob, we watched:
Amazing Race
The Mentalist
Criminal Minds
CSI
CSI New York

My favorite song this month was: Can’t Stand Losing You

What I remember about work was: the glass elevator that has been extremely loud screeching noise and the million and one complaints about it.

A lesson I learned this month was: as hard as you try to work something out, if it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be!

A friend and I: ate lunch at Applebee’s where I showed her all my photography that is now displayed there.

My favorite pic that I took was:
Auburn's Finest

I cooked:
Honey Baked Ham
Baked Potatoes/Bake Sweet Potatoes

The boys were: busy. Drew went to an Order of the Arrow (BSA) camp out called Conclave. The next weekend from Wed. night till Sunday morning he was in Disney (Orlando) with the band.

Rob was: busy with scouts; Arrow of Light Ceremony, ScoutFest at CityFest

The thing I’ll remember most from this month was: my roller coaster of emotions…

ScoutFest at City Fest

This year Rob was in charge of the Scout booth at Auburn City Fest. It was the first year to do this and I think it was great. He and other scout leaders are constantly looking for ways to promote scouting and they came up with having an area in the Child’s Imagination Station are of City Fest this year.
