Tonight Monkey and I went to the first SEC Women’s basketball game of the season. Fun times! I brought along my Point & Shoot. Then, when I got home and looked at the pics, I couldn’t decide which one to use so I just made a collage with PicMonkey.
Yep, I’m giving it another shot. “It” meaning the 365 Project, which is where you take 1 pic a day for the entire year. Never hurts to try and maybe one of these years I’ll actually finish, right?
Today I’ve been trying to wrap up a bunch of different projects left over from 2012 while hanging out with the family watching lots and lots of football.
Click on the pic to see the notes I added to the pic.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012:
Stop searching high and low for answers, the answer sometimes is right in front of you.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
“Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be all right.
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing gonna be all right!”
Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Sit by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, (“This is my message to you-ou-ou:”)
Singin’: “Don’t worry ’bout a thing,
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be all right.”
Singin’: “Don’t worry (don’t worry) ’bout a thing,
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be all right!”
Rise up this mornin’,
Smiled with the risin’ sun,
Three little birds
Sit by my doorstep
Singin’ sweet songs
Of melodies pure and true,
Sayin’, “This is my message to you-ou-ou:”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing, worry about a thing, oh!
Every little thing is gonna be all right. Don’t worry!”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing” – I won’t worry!
“‘Cause every little is thing gonna be all right.”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be all right” – I won’t worry!
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing,
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be all right.”
Singin’: “Don’t worry about a thing, oh no!
‘Cause every little thing is gonna be all right!
This is my last monthly summary for the year! I’m really glad I did this this year. It will be great to look back years from now and have a quick ‘summary’ of each month. I plan to keep doing it in 2013. I’m wondering what I else I should ask myself each month. Is there anything useful that could be added? Any suggestions?
This month I was happy about: enjoying the holiday season.
This month I was sad about: nada.
Somethings I accomplished this month were: hitting a problem head on and being able to resolve it even though I was scared to death.
Something new I did was: help do renovations to our kitchen. I promise to post pics soon. I just keep forgetting to take pics when it’s clean! 🙂
Books I read were:
Await Your Reply by Dan Chaon
Movies I watched were:
Yogi Bear
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace
Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones
Moneyball
TV Shows I watched were:
Survivor
Amazing Race
Criminal Minds
CSI
CSI New York
Bones
NCIS
NCIS: Los Angeles
Hawaii Five-0
Lost (started watching Pilot 1: Season 1 on Netflix. I think we’re on episode 6 or 7. Not sure I’m sold yet. Feel free to convince me to keep on.)
My favorite song this month was: Christmas music of course, but one of my favs is…
What I remember about work was: working during the holiday season for extra moo-la! 🙂
A lesson I learned this month was: running from a problem won’t solve anything.
A friend and I: were too busy with all the holiday activities.
My favorite pic that I took was:
I cooked: a lot since I was at home for several weeks in the evening since I worked a different schedule being that it was in between semesters and the holidays.
The boys were: anxious for Christmas.
My husband was: excited about his new iPad.
The thing I’ll remember most from this month was: enjoying hosting Christmas in our newly renovated kitchen. 🙂
The rest of this year’s summaries:
January ~ February ~ March ~ April ~ May ~ June ~ July ~ August ~ September ~ October ~ November
Christmas Day was busy. We started off with homemade sausage balls and apple strudals.
Then Rob and I looked in our stockings and the boys showed us what they had in their stockings, since that’s the one thing they can look at before Rob and I get up.
Then the obligatory pics in front of the Christmas tree.
Finally, what the kids had been waiting for since 6:30 am, the opening of the presents!
Daisy ripping open her 2nd present.
After opening gifts playing his new games.
My sweet girl hanging out in the kitchen (on my new pretty floor).
Family got here and we enjoyed visiting. We ate a lovely meal of homemade pasta, sauce, meatballs, and bread. Then, the best part (especially for the kids) opening gifts from our family gift swap. Here’s my nephew who was super excited.
Everyone else waiting for their gift to be given.
See more pics from the day here.
Recipes:
Turtle Bars ~ Jalapeno Popper Dip ~ Sausage Balls ~ Hasbrown Casserole ~ Honey Baked Ham
Baked Beans – I used this Pioneer Woman recipe and it wasn’t worth all the work.
On the last day of the cruise, you get up, eat breakfast, and head to the location where you sit until your tag number is called. You see here that our tag number was 34. We came to realize we were the 2nd to last group to be called. How did we get that lucky? We have no idea. **sarcasm**
Once your number is called you disembark and go into a large room where your luggage has been sitting since right after docking in the middle of the night. Drug dogs have meandered through rows and rows of bags sniffing out anything that shouldn’t be going home with you. We found our luggage and headed to the line for customs. As we went that way we discovered that we had piled up too much luggage on to our largest piece and the wheel had broken, so Rob had to drag it while in line. Checking out with customs went smoothly and then we waited for our shuttle to take us to the hotel where our car was parked. At this point, everyone is just ready to unload everything and head home, but the shuttle folks didn’t seem to think that way and only sent one shuttle at a time. It’s first come first serve, so we had to wait a little longer.
We hopped in the car and headed north. We decided to stop in Daytona Beach, FL to eat lunch and let the kids see what the Atlantic Ocean is like.
We ate lunch at Joe’s Crab Shack right on the beach.
After lunch, the boys got their swimsuits on so they could get in the water for a few minutes.
The boys were amazed by the huge waves. As Rob and I stood there and watched “up come a bad cloud” and the waves continued to get bigger and the riptide got stronger. We pulled the boys out and just as we were on our way to the car it started raining.
The storm seamed to follow us for a good ways.
We weren’t happy to be home really and having a mouse run across the floor minutes after walking through the door was not a welcoming site. It was only the beginning of what turned out to be a couple very stressful months of dealing with water leaks and rodents!
More pics from Day 8 here.
Christmas Eve and the day before, I was busy baking and cooking. In the late afternoon of Christmas Eve, Monkey performed in our church’s children pageant. He was a shepherd (without a headdress for some reason).
Afterwards, we went home to eat the Christmas Eve meal that I had prepared was similar to what I did last year. Instead of doing green beans, I made baked beans. We had:
Honey Baked Ham
Hash Brown Casserole
Homemade Baked Beans – recipe coming soon
After our dinner, we watched a Christmas movie and then went back to church for a regular Christmas Eve service, so that Rob could get his fix of “Oh Holy Night.” It’s always an amazing song to hear and the girl who usually does it, is truly amazing, but she just a had a baby so someone different sang it. We’ll just say, I had goosebumps and tears.
We got home afterwards and I let Monkey open his PJ’s and since Teenager begged me last year not to make him wear PJ’s, I surprised with an Auburn Under Armor Jacket. He was happily surprised to see it was NOT PJ’s.
See a few more pics from Christmas Eve here.
