Fat Mum Slim‘s prompt today was “Soft.” Love my clown bear we got when we visited Macy’s in NYC back in 2004. Love that place!

Fat Mum Slim‘s prompt today was “Something You Smelled.” I love the smell of cantaloupe. I bought a whole one the other day and was so happy to look in the fridge today and see it all cut up and ready to eat. Thanks, Teenager!
Fat Mum Slim‘s prompt today was “Hope” and I found this while cleaning the other day and I think of hope in knowing that I am blessed by Him.
Today was the last day of our retreat. We enjoyed breakfast, another cold hike back up to our meeting spot, a wonderful service with communion, and our goodbyes to all our new friends.
This month I was happy about: getting to spend time with friends.
This month I was sad worried sick about: my top teeth that are having issues because I grind and clinch when I sleep.
Something I accomplished this month was: surviving.
Something new I did was: go see an oral surgeon to make sure there was not a cyst on my top gums. The verdict was no, but he recommended I get my wisdom teeth out sometime soon. Luckily, I only have top ones! I’m going to wait and see what pans out with my initial issue mentioned above.
Books I read were:
Wait For Me by Elisabeth Naughton ♥ ♥
–This book was free (Kindle version) for a short period of time in December along with a bunch of others. I decided to read it over MLK weekend when I couldn’t sleep. Although, I don’t have a kindle, my mac has a kindle reader or you can use the online kindle reader.
Code Blue (Prescription for Trouble, Book 1) by Richard L. Mabry
(still reading)
–Another freebie Kindle download.
Movies I watched were:
Trouble with the Curve ♥
TV Shows I watched were:
McLeod’s Daughters (my newest obsession from Netflix – currently on Season 3 midway through)
Criminal Minds
CSI
CSI New York
NCIS
NCIS: Los Angeles
The Bachelor: Season 17
Dallas
My favorite song CD this month was: Overexposed by Maroon 5
What I remember about work was: different. We now have assigned “desk” time. I just have 2 separate hours which isn’t bad, except that one of my coworkers was out this week because of Jury Duty, so I had 4 hours of desk time. Blargh!
A lesson I learned this month was: just because you think you conquer a problem doesn’t mean it’s fixed.
A friend and I: went with our families up to the North Georgia Mountains for MLK weekend.
My favorite pic (not previously posted) that I took was:
Daisy lapping up some ice cold water at Duke Creek Falls
I cooked: not much of anything. Too busy.
The boys were: busy. Teenager’s JV soccer season has started and Monkey has been keeping Dad company in the evenings with meetings and the like.
My husband was: stressed because of a ‘problem’ leader in scouting and deadlines at work.
The thing I’ll remember most from this month was: dealing with problems with my teeth.
Over MLK weekend we went up to Blue Ridge, Ga with our friends the “S” family. We left Friday night after loading up the car. We arrived about 9ish, just in time to set up our air mattresses and hope in.
Saturday morning we awoke to Mr. S cooking bacon. Rob got up and started cranking out waffles. After that we got dressed. The teenager went outside to see our dogs playing with the beautiful husky, Beckham, from up the hill who came to say hi.
Once we packed the coolers for the day, we loaded up and headed to Duke Creek Falls.
We hiked down to the falls and then back up. We had a picnic and then decided to take advantage of our location by going to the swinging bridge on our way back.
I drove my Pilot carrying J and the girls, including Daisy. Rob rode with the boys and R drove. Us girls enjoyed sharing stories while listening to Maroon 5, Luke Bryan, and One Direction.
On the way to Duke Creek we noticed one area off the road that was hidden from the warmth of the sun, which was covered in beautiful icesicles, so on the way back we stopped to get pictures.
Fun at the swinging bridge.
Yes, it was 40 something degrees and yes, P took off his shirt!
We were at the swinging bridge for about an hour before jumping back in the car to drive the rest of the way back. We stopped at Merciers Orchards for some fried pies and fudge.
I guess we had a real sweet tooth, because then we stopped at DQ for ice cream! J and I made a quick stop at the store for a few things. J popped the enchiladas in the oven when we got back to the cabin. We enjoyed a quite evening around the cabin playing on iPods/Kindles/3DS and the like and watching movies.
The next morning we woke up to another yummy breakfast prepared by our men. After we got cleaned up and dressed we ventured over to the Foster’s Flea Market in Murphy, NC.
As R said, “Murphy flea market is one of my favorite places to shop. Where else can you buy an assault weapon. a puppy, a nazi flag, and a funnel cake.” …and a Medieval helmet, right?
After that we went back to the cabin for some free time, as well as watching the Falcons play. I whipped up some hotdogs and chili.
The boys had some bonding time cuttin’ up fire wood and tending to the fire.
Ranger and Daisy got a long while outside, so they followed me around as I walked through the woods looking for cool stuff to take pics of.
K was hanging out in the hammock on her iPod when I circled back around.
The next morning, we enjoyed another yummy breakfast and then loaded up our wagons and cleaned up the cabin and headed home.
We did get some family shots before we left.
I’d like to just end this post, by saying that we are so thankful the wonderful friends we have in the the “S” family. We had a great time with yall as always.
Every afternoon before I head to work, I get a few special minutes with my Monkey. Here he is walking to my car. After that he hops in and tells me all about his day, before I drop him off at Rob’s work for the rest of the afternoon. I am just glad this year he is usually in a good mood when I pick him up. Makes for a much more pleasant drive.
