64.365 {Woodpecker Problems}
For the last few days, we’ve been hearing a woodpecker. It sounded so close when i would sit in the extended part of our living room near the fire place. Today I went out to investigate. As you can see, Woody has decide to bore a a nice size hole in the wood part of our chimney.

Wait…I know that kid!
A punch in the gut. That’s how I felt when I saw a headline on the front page of our local newspaper a couple weeks ago. I saw the picture. I saw the name. At first, it didn’t hit me and then it did. I know that kid! I taught that kid! And now…he’s just been indicted by the grand jury for capital murder and assault charges in connection with the deaths of two people last year.
This is a kid who gave me so much trouble, when his mom forced him to come to school, which was only a couple days a week.
This is the kid who brought a gun to school and then I’m told by an administrator “It’s just a toy.”
This is a kid, who I tried desperately to make a connection with. To show him, he had all the potential in the world, but like we’ve all be told, “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink.”
This breaks my heart. Unfortunately, I’m not surprised by this. All I can do is pray. I pray for him, his family, and the families of those killed. I pray for all the teachers out there. I really do.
(this post is purposely vague for obvious reasons.)
because I don’t want to forget….
On the way to take Monkey from school to Rob’s work, he said, “Today I accidently had a great example of cause and effect.” The cause was I spilled some chocolate milk on me. The effect was I smelled like sour milk. And another effect from it was that the janitor had to come mop up the floor.”
February’s End of the Month Summary {2013}
Where is this year going?!? Really? How are we done with February already? So yah, I’m a little late posting this…
This month I was happy about: because I have felt such a closeness to God lately…need to write about this.
This month I was sad furious about: having people say they’re going to help with something, back out on me, and just leave me to do it without help.
Something I accomplished this month was: eating healthier and going to the gym more regularly.
Something new I did was: learned to use Google Fonts with a plugin to change my fonts on my blog.
This year I’m going to rate the books & movies. Here’s my rating system:
♥ ♥ = Love it! A must read/see!
♥ = Really good! Highly recommend.
✓ ✓ = Good, not great
✓ = Not much to talk about
X = Awful. Total waste of time

The 4 Seasons of Marriage: Secrets to a Lasting Marriage by Gary Chapman ♥

The ABC’S of Freezer Cooking by K.M. Logan ✓

Code Blue (Prescription for Trouble, Book 1) by Richard L. Mabry
(still reading)
–Another freebie Kindle download.

Movies I watched were:
Abduction ✓ ✓
TV Shows I watched were:
McLeod’s Daughters (Netflix: currently on Season 4)
Criminal Minds
CSI
CSI New York
NCIS
NCIS: Los Angeles
The Bachelor: Season 17
Survivor
Dallas
Bones
Hawaii Five-0
My favorite song performance this month was:
This was during the Grammy’s! It is one of THE greatest performances ever!! When I first heard this Bruno Mar’s song on the radio, I said that is in “Sting Style”, who’s music I adore. If you know me, you know I love reggae, so it just keeps getting better and better. Puts a smile on this girl’s face…gettin’ my groove on.
What I remember about work was: hearing that one of my alums, as crazy and really outta control he was as a student worker, is now calm down and engaged! Can’t tell you how exciting that is.
A lesson I learned this month was: sometimes it doesn’t matter how much you tell your kids, they have to learn it the hard way. 🙁
An ‘old’ friend and I: saw each other at the the Polar Plunge that we attended. It was so good to see one of my ‘old’ teacher friends and catch up. She always makes me feel loved and missed when I run into her.
My favorite pic (not previously posted) that I took was:
I cooked: some healthier food choices.
The boys were: busy as always. Teenager’s cell phone and brand new iPod 5 were both stolen out of his book bag at school. We told him numerous times, to not take his iPod to school, but he didn’t believe us when we said, “You’re iPod is as good as stolen if you take it to school.” We were right. I called the cops that evening and they came over to file a police report. I hope he learned his lesson.
My husband was: stressed to the point of “melt-downs,” which I got to endure.
The thing I’ll remember most from this month was: what turned out to be a bit of a nightmare…delivering phone books as a Boy scout Fundraiser.
