Hmm…

Well, we just found out that our cruise that is supposed to leave in 33 days was cancelled. They are using the Sensation, which was the ship we were going out on and 2 other ships for hurricane relief. Sooo…we’re trying to decide whether to just save that money for another vacation or book another cruise during that time. We’ve got several options, so we’ll probably end up rebooking out of Tampa or Jacksonville. It’s pretty much like starting over. After putting a lot of thought into our first choice and now having to do it all again. But I’m not going to complain, because I’m lucky that’s all I have to worry about!

Anyone done the all-inclusive resorts? What’d ya think? Please share! We’re thinking about that as an option. If not for the October trip, maybe another one later on.

What a Weekend!!

Wow! What a weekend! Friday we went to the Wreck Tech Parade and Pep Rally. It was fun and I took lots of pictures. I’ve posted some below! You can go here and see lots more!

After the parade we cleaned the house and I wore myself plum out! The house hadn’t had a real good cleaning in quite awhile, especially the boys rooms! EEeessshhh! Saturday morning we finished cleaning and did about 8 loads of wash! Rob’s family (Rob’s Mom, step dad, sister, brother-in-law, brother, and adopted brother and sister) got here about noon, I think. We then built the pit in the backyard to build a fire to cook jambalaya on. After finally getting the fire going we cooked it. I was so busy I didn’t get pictures of that. It turned out great and our new cast iron dutch oven was great! I know the more we use it the more flavor it will have. Then, the guys headed to the game and us girls were home with all the kids! We watched Man on Fire, before the game came on. That was heart wrenching! The game was too, actually. You hate to see your team lose the first game! Especially after going 13 and 0 the year before! Oh well…

Today Rob and I got up and went to Bruno’s and got Krispy Kreme Donuts and stuff to have a fish fry for lunch. We ended up doing the fish fry for dinner. We had fried catfish, fresh cut french fries, & hush puppies! YUM!! After that everybody left to head back home and I got on the floor and played with the boys. It was so nice to be relaxed and not have to worry about work tomorrow. Yay, for a holiday!! Tomorrow we’re just hanging out here and relaxing as far as I know! Hope you’re having a great weekend!

5 songs i know all the words to…… lots! (don’t feel like listing right now!)

5 things i would do with 100 million dollars….. put money away for boys’ college, pay off debt, buy a new car, buy a bigger house, give money to my family who need it

5 places i would run away to….deserted island, texas, oregon, new york city, my bed!

5 things i would never wear…. high heels, leather pants, bikini, a thong, tube top

5 favorite tv shows…… CSI, Amazing Race, The Apprentice, Without a Trace, any Maternity/baby show

My Childhood Memories

Yes, I should have my tail in the bed condering how tired I am, but I’m once again being a night owl and trying to get some stuff done! (I’ve also going through internet withdrawal since we didn’t have wireless the whole time we were gone!) Someone actually tagged me to do something! I can’t believe it! Wow! I’m so exicted!

So anyway…5 favorite childhood memories….hmmmmm….

1. Riding my bike to my friends homes was one of my favorite things to do. I enjoyed the cool breeze as it went across my face and the small but significant feeling of having some freedom.

2. I loved to swing in my front yard. I would bring my little radio outside with me and sing all my troubles away!

3. I have countless memories of times spent with my grandfather, who raised me. He was such a great man. I miss him dearly!

4. Christmas time

5. Time spent with all my friends, some of which I still keep in contact and even those that I don’t!

Tears fall from my cheeks as I write this…

Wow! Never would I have thought that the New Orleans hurricane would effect us so close to home. There are several churches in our area who have become shelters for people fleeing Katrina. The people as we contniue to hear on the news have no where to go and might as well start over. So my school now has many familes bringing their children to register so they can get them back into school, so they can find jobs, etc. I don’t have any of these students, but the more they flow in, the more likely I will have some. I’m not sure why I’m finding this so unbelievable…well yah I do! I can’t imagine having a home and having to leave it, to go some where you’ve NEVER been and don’t know much about. Then to find out you have nothing to go back to so you better just start over in this new place. I can’t imagine that and if I do get some of these students, I’ll want to give them so much more than I should and that will be hard. But to be fair, I can give them compassion and understanding, a book bag and supplies, love and an education!

Friday Forum (a day early)

1] Summer technically ends on September 22 (the autumnal equinox).
But when do *you* consider summer “over”? Is it when the kids go back
to school? When Labor Day arrives? When it’s September? When your
summer vacation ends? When your weather starts turning cooler?

Well, summer relaxation and enjoyment ends when I go back to work which is now early August:( Before I started working, it was when football season started and the weather started getting cooler. The nice part about starting early August is that by Labor day I’m ready for a holiday!!

2] Have you enjoyed Summer 2005? Why/why not? Is there anything that
you would have liked to do but didn’t? What was a highlight of your
summer?

Summer 2005 has been pretty good, I guess. I always dread May because so many people have passed away in that month and always “itchy” about it! May also brings memories of my grandfather passing away and the very next year my cousin dying with in days of when my Granddad did. Anyway…my summer was highlighted by a good long trip to Texas. We usually race there and back. This time we took more time, although we still raced from town to town, but we were away from home longer. This summer was good because I got to see T walk and that was very exciting!

3] Do you have any plans for Labor Day weekend? What about your
September calendar … what do you have going on this month?
My Labor day weekend will be the first Auburn Football game here in town. Although I’m not going I’ll still join the festivities and the Wreck Tech parade tomorrow! We’re cooking out Saturday before the game and watching football. The game’s on TV so I’ll watch it. As for the rest of the weekend, I need to clean tomorrow, because we’re having company and then I hope to sit back and enjoy after that!

September calendar…
September 5th (Monday) – my mom’s 50th birthday
September 28th (Wednesday) – my dad’s 54th birthday
September 30th (Friday) – my 30th birthday (EEEEEK!!)
My parents and I have birthday in September as you can see! Although my mom is in Texas and my dad is in Colorado, I’ll still be thinking of them:-)
The rest of the calendar will consist of football every Saturday. Mr. A will be starting Soccer and baseball, so we’ll be very busy with those!

4] If you could make summer last forever (in other words, it would be
the only season you’d experience for the rest of your life), would
you do it? Why/why not?

No, I love the other seasons too much to do that!

5] What do you like most about fall? What are your favorite autumn
foods and treats?

I absolutely love fall. I love decorating and making Fall crafts. I love wearing my Halloween socks and T-shirts. I love to give fall gifts to my class and my coworkers. I love candy corn. I love reading Woman’s Day, Family Fun, and Family Circle and getting cute ideas from those. I love the cooler weather when it finally decides to show up, but it seems it goes from Hot to Pretty Cold so quickly.

People are going NUTs!

I got off work and went to WalMart. On my way out I saw TRAFFIC!! Backed up for quite a ways. I couldn’t figure out why till i saw the gas station. PACKED and people backed up on the roads waiting to get in. Before I left work someone said they’d heard a rumor that everywhere was running out of gas. As I drove down the street the right lane was backed up so far due to traffic waiting to turn in to numerous gas stations. It gave me chill pumps. I’m not sure why, but it did. I turned on the radio and heard that there was no gas in the southern part of our state and many stations in our area will not get anymore gas. The price went from $2.30 to $2.80 from this morning to this afternoon. But people are going NUTS and it’s crazy! It’s scary! Luckily my wonderful husband went and filled my car up yesterday! 🙂
