Bopple?

The other night Monkey Boy was whining and he was walking around. He walked over to the kitchen table and said, “Bopple? bopple? bopple?” I was like, “what?” He was pointing to the basket of apples and I asked him if he wanted an apple. He said, “No!” But right now “No!” means “Yes!” in our toddler world.

I’m better

I woke up this morning feeling much better. I really wanted to feel better, because we had a date planned for tonight. One of our Christmas gifts to Mr. Mag’s mom and step dad, was a dinner at J. Williams Restaurant. It’s one of my favorite places to go. We only go about once a year, because it is really expensive. So I ended up feeling well enough to go! And I was starving, since I hadn’t really eaten anything of much substance in over 24 hours.

My best friend’s husband owns the restuarant and is the head chef. (No, we don’t get a discount.) But, she happened to show up while we were there, so I got to talk to her for a bit, which was great. We’re both so busy and she’s been working out of town more and more. I miss her.

Southernesses

I got this in an email and found it to be hilarious!
–Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don’t “HAVE” them, you “PITCH” them.
–Only a Southerner knows how many fish, collard greens, turnip greens, peas, beans, etc., make up “a mess.”
–Only a Southerner can show or point out to you the general direction of “yonder.”
–Only a Southerner knows exactly how long “directly” is – as in: “Going to town, be back directly.”
–Even Southern babies know that “Gimme some sugar” is not a request for the white, granular sweet substance that sits in a pretty little bowl in the middle of the table.
–All Southerners know exactly when “by and by” is. They might not use the term, but they know the concept well.

Bye-Bye!

Monkey Boy just cracks me up. He loves to say bye-bye. When we’re at the store and he waves to everyone and calls out, “Bye-Bye, Bye-Bye, Bye-Bye”! People always smile and wave back. This morning, after we were done getting him dressed and ready for the day, we were leaving his room and he waved bye and said, “Bye-bye, caws! Bye-bye, caws!” His room is decorated with planes, trains, and cars. So he was telling them BYE! Something to make me smile in the morning when I’m not so happy about being up and on my way to work.
