Par-tay!!!

ubpbanner3-welcome.jpg

Yes, the party is on!! Tons of friends, food, and fraternizing. Now don’t be a party pooper stay awhile and show me some love, which is really easy. You can do that by saying hi. I’ve been lacking in the comment department lately, so BRING it! 🙂

Ok, so now I gotta let you know about me…Well, I’m a 31 year old mom of 2 WILD boys (9 and almost 3 [next week, in fact]). I’ve been married for almost 10 years to my wonderful husband, who I met on the internet while in college. We enjoy traveling and watching way to much TV together. The other 10 hours of my day are spent working at an intermediate school, teaching 5th grade in a self-contained classroom. When I get a few spare seconds to myself, I enjoy blogging (of course), reading, sleeping, cooking and taking pictures. So I think that sums ‘me’ up for ya. If that’s not enough, feel free to roam around or you can go here if you wish to cut to the chase. Looking forward to hearing from ya. Party on!

So yesterday…

So yesterday was Alex’s birthday. He had a great day. For me, it wasn’t as great.

It actually started Tuesday when I went to put my contact in my right eye, which looked irritated. I didn’t think much of it. I just went ahead and switched to a new contact, because my other one had some jagged edges. That night I took my contacts out and my eye was even more irritated and red and it hurt. It got worse every time I blinked, so I went and looked in the mirror and it was bloody right above my iris. It was quite shocking to see. I’ve never had this happen. I figured it would get better with some sleep.

So yesterday I got up and my eyes were so sore. It was so red! Opting not to wear a contact in that eye, I decided I’d head on to work. I’d be fine. My right eye is my stronger eye. As I was driving to work, I felt more pain. When I got to work, I asked to take a half day, so I could get it looked at. The good part of the day was when I got to the eye doctor, they had had a cancellation so I waited about 10 minutes and was able to get in. It turns out I have a tear in my sclera, the white part of the eye, AND I have pink eye!

The thing is is that I only have contacts. No glasses! Deciding it was time to fork over some mulah, I got some glasses, especially, since I can’t wear my contacts for awhile.

Besides that I didn’t get to enjoy my half day off, because I was so busy running around getting ready for Alex’s birthday after I was done at the dr.

Alex turns THREE tomorrow!

Going home!
This is the day he went home. Believe it or not, this outfit was for newborns, but it swallowed him up!
Where has the time gone? I can’t believe three years have passed already. In so many ways though, his birth and the whole labor and delivery process seems like a dream, like it never happened. I think back to that day and it’s hard to fathom that I went through that agonizing pain. It’s crazy how time tends to dampen the feelings you go through the day a child is born. When you’re in the moment, everything is vivid and you’re super sensitive to everything that goes on.

I don’t feel like I’m able to put this in words like I’m trying to. But I’m curious…Does anyone else feel that way about the days their children were born or is it just me?

Long and lanky
He was about a month old here, but so long and lanky.

Unmotivated – Potty Training Help Needed!

I’m so unmotivated to get Alex to potty train. I’ve got to find some motivation some where, because he’s going to be 3 in a couple weeks. Drew was potty trained at school in a matter of days! As for Alex, he doesn’t have the structure from his teacher that Drew had, so I guess I’m forced to take on the task all by myself. I just hope that when I find the motivation that they back me up at day care.

So bring it on people. What can I do to kick start this thing called potty training?

The wedding and honeymoon (The beginning Part IV)

Continued from Part III.

Soon after I moved to Auburn I got a job working at Auburn City Hall.
Wedding and Honeymoon (The beginning Part IV)

I worked there from May until September, when school started. In May of the next year (1997), we decided to get married. So the frenzy of planning of a wedding was underway. We only had about 3 months to plan, since we had set a date of August 30!! Rob was working at DP Fitness, which was about to go out of business and I was a full time college student, so we didn’t have a ton of money. We were able to pull off a beautiful wedding for a few thousand dollars!

Our rehearsal dinner was the Friday night before and we ate one of our favorite places, The Grill in downtown Auburn (which is now closed).

We got married at the Auburn University Chapel and had our reception at Kiesel Park.
My 2 best friends from high school were in the wedding along with Rob’s little sister and my little sister. About half of my family showed up from Texas. It was a great day.

Wedding and Honeymoon (The beginning Part IV)
We actually bailed out early from the reception, because of rain and our extreme fatigue. We headed to our evening destination. Completely exhausted, we napped and then we woke up and had pizza delivered. Even though our reception was catered by Breezeway, we were so busy mingling that I don’t think I touched the food. That night we watched the tragedy of Princess Di unfold before our eyes.

The next morning we had to rise earlier than we would have liked. Due to the fact our families were still in town, we gathered for a brunch/shower that my Aunt Brandi had planned for me. It was super nice and a great way to spend time with family before most of them headed back home.
Wedding and Honeymoon (The beginning Part IV)

That evening we used a gift that had been given to us by Rob’s parents, which was a night at a Miss Weese’s Victorian Bed & Breakfast. We took advantage of this before heading out of town for our honeymoon.

We spent our honeymoon in Gatlinburg, TN. Sleeping in late, site-seeing, and adventure filled the week and made it fly by so quickly.

Here’s some things we did and saw:

When we left Gatlinburg we took a scenic root and did more site-seeing:
Biltmore
Furniture Capital of the World and saw the World Largest Bureau
UT
Duke University
Wake Forest University

Part V coming soon
