I think I’ve ran off my fan club. Haha! I know I haven’t been posting on a regular basis but many of you know things for me haven’t been great. The new house is wonderful and I have great neighbors. In fact, the boys played with the 2 boys next door and we ate dinner over there tonight. We had a really great time. If you’re reading this, Stef, THANKS!!!! It was nice to get away from the house and not think about unpacking and organizing and cleaning and everything else I’ve had to think about. We got bikes for the family yesterday. Drew needed a new bike and I’ve been wanting to get a bike. It will be nice to ride bikes as a family. We got a trailer to pull Alex in. That should be interesting.

I haven’t had a chance to take pics of the storage shed we built. I’ll try to do that this weekend. We’re going to see Foreigner tomorrow, which should be fun.

New House Ramblings

I decided to actually write and let you know what I’ve been up to lately. I’ve been busy trying to unpack still and get stuff organized and put in it’s place. I’ve hardly been able to touch the playroom, which is still piled high in boxes. We’ve purchased a piece of furniture for the entry way. I think it looks really nice. We had sod installed this past weekend and it looks so much better!

We also put in a storage building in the back. We bought Alex new mattresses for his twin bed. We got rid of the toddler bed the day we moved and he’s transitioned quite easily. So he got Drew’s bed, Drew got the double bed. We had to get Drew new bedding to match his “Sports theme.” Now I’ve got to figure out what color to paint his room and then do it. I’m also hoping to paint the main bathroom. I like the colors that’s it’s painted now, but it’s not that great of paint job and I’ve decided to do a “Surfing Theme.” I think it will be super cute when I’m done. Our to do list and to buy list is still a mile long, but we’re getting there slowly but surely. Here’s everything I could think of…

Short-term:

  • hang pictures
  • purchase new dishwasher, cooktop, and built-in stove
  • finish organizing office
  • finish organizing and cleaning laundry room
  • unpack, clean, and organize the playroom
  • install shelves or cabinets in playroom
  • paint Drew’s room
  • organize and set up Drew’s room
  • hang stuff in Drew’s room
  • paint main bathroom
  • decorate main bathroom with new shower curtain, etc.
  • touch up paint in master bedroom and breakfast area and hallway
  • purchase cedar chest to hold blankets in living room
  • chair for master bedroom
  • fix outside door in master bedroom
  • fix closet doors in master bedroom
  • possibly install outdoor speakers
  • purchase display shelves
  • purchase lots of organizing bins for different rooms of the house
  • purchase blinds for Drew’s room
  • purchase blinds for playroom to replace roman shades
  • purchase curtain rod for MB’s room
  • purchase curtain for Laundry room and master bedroom
  • purchase new lamp shades for master bedroom, Drew’s lamp, and living room lamp
  • patch holes where old curtain used to be in living room and breakfast area

    • Long term:

  • install built-in over the range microwave
  • install cabinets in open area under bar in kitchen
  • redo cabinet doors and drawer covers
  • install ceramic tile in kitchen, breakfast area, and entry way
  • install ceramic tile in main bathroom
  • install ceramic tile in master bathroom
  • paint and redecorate master bedroom
  • install hardwood floors in living room areas

    Restaurant Meme

    I saw this meme over at Susie’s. Since I haven’t been absent from my little place here I figured this might be something fun to do and to let you know I’m still here. Like Stacy, I like the usual Chili’s, Red Lobster, etc, but I decided to do unique restaurants. These aren’t in any particular order just in the order that I think of.

    1. Dante’s Down the Hatch in Atlanta. Fondue, very romantic, great jazz music, one of the most unique places you’ll ever go to.

    2. Niffer’s Place in Auburn. Good food, good service, unique atmosphere, great burgers.

    3. Durango’s Restaurant in Auburn. Well, for Mexican food in Alabama it’s pretty darn good.

    4. Abuelo’s in Texas. THE best Mexican food you’ll have outside of Mexico itself.

    5. J. Williams in Auburn. Although it is now closed it was some of the best food I’ve ever put into my mouth. I was so sad to see it close and even more sad to see the building that it was in (which was quite historical) was torn down.

    Keep ’em comin’

    Keep the prayers coming. I’ve got an another interview tomorrow at 11 cst. My interview last week didn’t go that great. Basically, my nerves took over and I just couldn’t stay focused. Tomorrow is a screening interview with my 1st choice in school systems, so it’s a MUST that I do great.

    Update

    Thanks for all the prayers. Keep them coming please. Things are still not good with me and won’t be until there’s a resolution. If you’d like to read about what’s going on, all those entries will be password protected. I have to be careful who reads it, so if you’d like the password just let me know and I’ll share. I’m just being cautious.

    On a happier note, we’re picking up the U-Haul tomorrow and are going to fill it with the first load. We’ll go over Saturday morning for the walk through and then, hopefully we’ll have the truck full from Friday night so we can go ahead and unload that first load. We’ve been packing a room each night and we’re pretty much all packed up. We still need to pack the storage shed. We’re packing our closet tonight, which doesn’t sound bad, but it’s chalk full of stuff that is not clothing!

    We’ve already been greeted by our next door neighbors through email. They seem like super great people, who were nice enough to come over and fix our broken drain plug, which was one of things that our buyer wanted fixed. They have 2 boys, which should be great and from what they’ve told us there’s lots more kids in the neighborhood for them to play with. TV Boy is still not sold on the idea of moving at all! Hopefully that will change as we start getting settled.

    I need your prayers please! I can’t go into details right now, but I’ve had one of the worst weeks of my life. It’s hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I know there has to be light. I just need help seeing it.

    We bought a house!!

    Finally! We bought a house this week. Well, we signed a contract and came to terms with the sellers. We’re set to have our closing May 15th, back to back with the sell of our house. We’re moving in the weekend before that if all goes as planned. We’re in a mad rush packing, cleaning, scheduling this and that. Home inspection is Monday. Pray that all goes well with that. Thanks for all the prayers. Keep them coming! Still a few hurdles to get through in the next 2 weeks! Wow! Only 2 more weeks in this house…

    Quiet lately…

    I guess I’ve been pretty quiet here lately. You should be thanking me though, because if I was writing here every day you wouldn’t want to come back. I’m just not real happy right now. I’m upset, because we’ve had 3 houses that we would live in and all 3…poof…gone! We’re running out of time, so we’re having to concentrate on renting. Since we’re in a college town there’s hardly any place that does short term leases. And that’s all we need is to get stuck in a long lease and then not be able to get out. I found 1 apartment that does 3 month leases, which is good. Our hope is that we can find a house before school starts in August, because that apartment complex is in a different area and TV Boy would have to go to a different school. The apartment isn’t that far from where we live now. It’s in a very convenient location. It will be really weird to rent again and I’m not really looking forward to it. We won’t have washer dryer connections, so I’ not sure where I’ll do laundry. With kids, that’s not a real good thing, since sometimes I do a load a day, especially in the summer. The apartment complex has a playground and 2 pools, which will be nice for summertime. We’ll have to be on the 2nd floor, which is good in the sense you don’t have anyone on above you, but you have to move everything up stairs and bring groceries up the stairs. I’m not sure if we’re going to bring our dog there, we may have to have a friend or family member keep her. They allow pets, but there’s a $400 FEE, which is ridiculous since we may only be there 3 months.

    So on top of being depressed about moving into a rental property, I’ve had to start packing. Yuck! I think I’d be more thrilled about it if I could just pack and not be so concerned with putting stuff in boxes for STORAGE and boxes to take to the apartment. It would be easier to just throw it all in boxes, move, and unpack. I know everything happens for a reason, but at this point I don’t know what His plan is. (I think I said that recently. Didn’t I?)
