Baby Brayden was born a few days ago and is still fighting hard.
Last Sunday we attended the contemporary service at church, my favorite! We also visited a Sunday school class, Footsteps. We had started visiting classes last year, but never got to finish trying some others out. I’ll admit it’s been awhile since we’ve been to church and it seems that when we go awhile without going, when we go back it’s like the messages that are taught are handpicked just for us.
Both the sermon and the lesson in Sunday School just really hit home with both Rob and me. The sermon was really just about taking one day at a time. God gives us today. Yesterday is gone and over with and tomorrow….well we never know for sure if we’ll have a tomorrow. And the point that hit home during our Sunday School lesson was similar saying if Jesus were to come back to Earth today, would I be ready? Would I be ready for him to see the life that I’m leading? Have I lived my life to the fullest and savored the time that I’ve had with my family? Have I taken for granted what God gives to me each and every day? Truthfully, those were some hard questions to stare in the face. We discussed how easy it is for us to get wrapped up in our daily lives that we forget the gifts we’re given. I’m trying to make an effort to stop and think about what I have and how blessed I really am even with all the unknown that is out there for my family and me right now. I hope you’ll take time this weekend to count your blessings too.

Her blog is full of mouth-watering photos of her delightful creations. I especially like her post on Hello Kitty cookies and her post that has an awesome chocolate chip cookie chart.
The recipes I’m going to add to my list to try ASAP are Banana filled chocolate chip cookies and her sweet and spicy candy bars. YUM!!

God has answered some of our prayers. I mentioned in an earlier post 2 prayer requests. Hope has gone to heaven to be with her Savior and Stellan was able to leave the hospital. We have so much to be thankful for.
I have a personal prayer request. I’m not one to ask for help normally, but when times are tough and you feel you have no where else to turn God is the answer. I need you to ask God to help Rob and me with our financial future. We continually hear about the devastation of the nation’s economy and then, even more about our state’s education budget and how it continues to go down the drain and that it’s not going to get any better. It all just leaves me with even more questions and a true feeling of hopelessness. I love that I’ve started a photography business, but that’s not enough to sustain our day to day needs and I really do need a full time job. I will continue to do my business in my free time and weekends. So please just pray that God will open doors for me and that he will help us through this rough time. Thank you

It seems that nearly every blog I read today shows people having fun in the snow. Well, either that or they’re sick of it! The thought of snow here…well in 70 degree weather, I don’t see it happening anytime soon. And if it does it surely won’t stick because the ground is so warm.
Last year the weekend of TV Boy’s birthday, it snowed. They got to play in it for a little while, but it melted so quickly that they didn’t get the full enjoyment out of it like we’d like.
Oh well…the joys of living in the south! (I know the people who live where it snows all the time hate it) 😉

Rob was notified today that a coworker of his lost her 9 year old grandson on Dec. 27th in a freak accident. He was a 3rd grader at Blount Elementary School. Please pray for Judy, her family, and all that knew her grandson during this very difficult time.
Every Christmas Eve, I let the boys open one present each. TV Boy always knows what it is, but never says it out loud until he opens it. It’s always a Christmas-y set of pajamas. This year these pajamas proved to be quite a conundrum for me. I was happy to find Monkey Boy’s PJs early in my shopping adventures. I could never find TV Boy any PJs, so I ended up pullin’ my self out of bed very early on Christmas Eve morning to head out and find some for him. I went back to Target, where they had some cute ones but never had his size. I went back there hoping they perhaps had gotten another shipment, but to my dismay they had not. I took off to Kohl’s where I was very happy to find some cute snowboarding PJ’s in his size.
About 6:15 that evening I realized time was getting away from me since I had spent several hours visiting with one of my neighbors. I went to wrap the PJs so the boys could unwrap them and put them on. As Rob was about to take the hanger off Monkey boy’s set he realized the hanger was labeled 5T while the box said 3T. I opened them and they were TINY! 🙁 I was NOT happy, of course. So I started calling a few stores to see if by any chance they were still open. K-mart was actually going to be open until 10 so I raced off to see if they had anything. I managed to find some fairly cute Christmas-y pants and found a soft red shirt to match. So that was my pajama saga and ended up turning out ok. They ended up looking really cute for my pictures on Christmas Day.
