I really liked the shot for Fix-It Friday. I did a couple different versions. Which one do you like the best?

This week at Show Us your Life over at Kelly’s Korner is How You Met Your Husband week. I’ve written some pretty in depth posts about that you can start with here. I have most of the next post And baby makes three…(part V) started, but never finished it. Maybe I’ll finish that soon. Anyway, for this post I’m going to write an abbreviated version of these posts.
I was a sophomore at Texas Tech and Rob was a sophomore at Auburn. We met on AOL, when it was just beginning to get popular. We chatted online every night and day for a while and then started talking on the phone. I flew out to meet him not long after. Eventually I transferred to Auburn University. We dated a little over a year and then got engaged.
We were engaged for about 3 months, which made for some really quick wedding planning.
Our wedding was great. We had so many people come from far away to be with us during that special weekend.
We have now been married almost 13 years. 13 years??? WOW! That’s hard to believe it’s been that long.
About a month ago, I was contacted by a representative from POM Wonderful about sending me some POM juice to try. Well, they sent me an 8 pack. I tried it and it is so yummy! It’s a very light, smooth juice, nothing thick or crunchy like other juices of tried. Not too sweet, not to sour. I can drink down the 8 oz. bottle in no time.
The icing on the cake is that it’s healthy! It contains no added sugars or preservatives. Gluten free and full of potassium.
Slightly sweet. Slightly tart. One sip and you’ll discover a refreshing beverage with it’s own unique personality. But there’s more than great taste inside the bottle: you’ll find more antioxidant power than any other juice in our line. Maybe that’s because the 16 oz. bottle of 100% Pomegranate Juice contains the juice of almost five fabulous fresh pomegranates. Wow!!
I think these would make great popsicles and could be used in some type of marinade. If I come up with something tasty I’ll be sure to share the recipe. 🙂
Yesterday I got home and Rob had been sitting on our balcony. He said thatDrew had made a discovery while looking for a ball, which was a nest full of baby cardinals. Today I was able to go out and find them again.
This morning when I went out Mama and Daddy were both near the nest when I opened the door. They quickly flew away when they heard me.
Here’s Mama and the blur which is Dad. I have found since going outside several times throughout the day that Daddy hangs out in the trees above and Mama alerts him when I’m out there with this loud staccato chirp.
Here’s Daddy. He was still for a split second before flying to another branch to get a better view of me.
Here’s a view of where the nest is.
This afternoon when I went out I saw Mama sitting on the nest. I didn’t have my camera ready and it startled me to see her looking back at me. I was bummed not to get a picture. I tip-toed out later and caught her back on the nest. She sat there for several minutes allowing me to watch and capture her protecting her babies.
She got restless and flew to the nearest tree. You can see here she’s chirping.
She looks as if she’s asking me why I’m out there.
I’ve been taking all the pictures from the top view. Up on the deck. This time I went around to the other side to see if I could find her. Her beak gives her away pretty quickly.
This is my latest obsession, so I’m sure there will be more pics. Can’t wait to see the babies open their eyes and beaks!
This is my oldest niece, Arial. She’s peeking through the bars on the playground. She’s one of the few kids I’ve reminded to smile who didn’t give me that crazy, fake smile. I think her smile is precious, but maybe I’m just a bit bias. 🙂

This travel talk will be in 2 parts. This first post will include Friday through Wednesday. This was our first Eastern Caribbean Cruise and our first 7 day cruise. We absolutely love the Eastern Caribbean. Mountains and Oceans…Amazing!
Since the big talk about cruises is usually the great food, I’ve included a sample menu for each day. The menus I’ve listed would be for the sit down meals in the dining room and they might vary just a bit. Here’s the Breakfast Menu and it is the same everyday.
We stayed at the Sheraton near the airport and cruise terminal.
We looked around the ship, found our cabin, ate lunch, and then the mandatory lifeboat drill. At about 4:30, we waved goodbye as the ship disembarked from the port and we set sail towards San Juan! 4:45-5:45 we enjoyed a Bon Voyage Dance Party poolside on the Resort Deck. The partyband Xtasea did a great job getting everyone in a relaxed, caribbean mood.
That evening we enjoyed our first dinner and then was entertained by the Cruise Director, Allan King, at the Welcome Aboard Show and the LadderGuy, Michael James.
Sunday was a relaxing day at sea. It was interupted by an aggressive onset of kidney and urinary pain. Of course, the pain got to the point that I knew I couldn’t handle it any longer when the ship infirmiry was closed. This meant that I was an “emergency” patient which cost an extra couple hundred dollars. It’s a little scary when you have a nurse from one country and a doctor from another country, both with interesting accents. They fixed me up pretty quickly. We could tell the nurse wasn’t happy to be pulled away from other duties, which at the time appeared to be mandatory drug tests for the crew.
The antibiotics that I got were of course the kind that makes you very sensative to sun, so I had to make sure I wore sunscreen anytime we were in the sun. I forgot to put sunscreen on my hands so they got nice and crispy…
The rest of the day we just hung out and relaxed in our cabin and in the shade on deck. We even managed to clean up nicely for our 1st formal night, dinner and the show: On Broadway.
Enjoying the beautiful blue waters
How cute is that hair blown look?!?!
After arriving to San Juan, we just walked around and did some of our own site-seeing.
Beautiful San Juan
As we departed San Juan just after midnight a deck party started poolside themed Tropical Island Night Celebration. Assistant Cruise Driector Lance, Celebrity Dancers, and Xtasea put on a great show under the stars. There was a special fruit presentation and melons on parade. The buffet was delicios. You know I’m always happy when there’s Mexican food.
On the hike we walked through this resort called Caneel Bay.
Then we went back to St. Thomas, where we took a taxi to Mountain Top
Back in the taxi heading down to the Magen’s Bay beach.
We saw this pelican while relaxing on the beach. He seemed pretty tame and didn’t mind me walking right up to him.
Such beautiful waters…yah, that’s me looking total silly. Rob always says that I need to pose …I’m not sure I love this pose. LOL
That evening we were exhausted so we opted to stay in the cabin, order room service, and watch movies in the room. We missed the show: The Beat Goes On put on by the Celebrity Singers and Dancers.
Around 8 am we arrived in Philipsburg, St. Maarten, which is the Dutch side of the island. We got in a taxi to Simpson Bay Lagoon where we got our life jackets on and got ready to drive ourselves in these little boats called Rhino Riders around to the French side of the island for some snorkling.
The show that evening was The Future of Magic put on my Dale Scot and Ana in the Celebrity Theater followed by a 50’s Rock ‘N Roll Sock Hop in the Crystal Room, Deck 7.
Read Part 2.
I’ve got so many posts “in the works,” but it just seems I can’t get them finished right now. So be patient. In the mean time…
With the beautiful weather that we’re having, comes a very nerve-wracking time for me. It’s “teacher hiring season.” I so badly want to be back in the classroom. This year of subbing has really opened my eyes to so many things and I’m ready to put a lot of those ideas to use. I know there is a reason for all things that happen and God has my master plan. I’m just praying that me getting a teaching job this spring is in His plan! 🙂 Although after reading about the teacher units that are going to be cut, it’s once again not looking promising. So I’m asking you to pray that God has a classroom for me. I will definitely have a huge post if my prayers are answered.
This past weekend we drove to Clinton, MS, after a cub scouting event. We didn’t get out of town till nearly 9 pm, so we got in about 1:30 am. We had to rise and shine very early for Drew’s first game which started at 8, meaning he had to be there at 7:15 and it was about a 30 minute drive into Jackson. We stayed with one of Rob’s cousins and her hubby. We haven’t seen them in quite some time, so it was great to see them. Rob’s Aunt and Uncle and Dad and Step Mom drove over to see Drew play. Nice big family visit. I didn’t get a single picture of any of the family we visited. I need to work on that.
Anyway, Drew had a game at 8 am and 11:45ish, so that allowed us to have the afternoon and evening free. We ate lunch at Sal & Mookies. Very yummy pizza. After stuffing ourselves, it was back to the house to watch the Auburn vs. LSU baseball game. I took a nap. That evening we went to Trustmark Park for a minor league baseball game: Mississippi Braves vs. Tennessee Smokies.
Starlin Castro of the Tennessee Smokies
They had movie “characters” at the ballpark.
Ghostbusters
Sunday we got to sleep in a bit before going to Drew’s final game of the tournament. We gathered one more time for lunch at Lumpkin Bar-B-Q, before heading home.
I mentioned in an earlier post that we attended a military funeral in Biloxi at the Biloxi National Cemetery a few weeks ago. It was for Rob’s Step Dad’s Father, so Rob’s Step-Grandfather, Cliff. They buried Cliff and his wife’s ashes together.
My mother-in-law and my niece before the ceremony
Keeping watch before the ceremony
The folding and unfolding of the flag was something so intricate, yet touching.
Gun salute. After the gun salute, there was a recording played of Taps. It would have been much more real if it were played live.
I remember when going to Arlington National Cemetery with my grandparents growing up and of course, not feeling the full magnitude, of what I was seeing. Seeing these views, although not Arlington, it’s nothing less and the feelings were full-fledge. This area of the cemetery are soldiers that have passed most recently (2008 to present); some young, some not.
Universal Pictures’s *big* summer release is hitting theaters July 9, 2010, Despicable Me starring the voice talent of Steve Carell, Miranda Cosgrove, Jason Segel and Russell Brand.
In a happy suburban neighborhood surrounded by white picket fences with flowering rose bushes, sits a black house with a dead lawn. Unbeknownst to the neighbors, hidden deep beneath this home is a vast secret hideout. Surrounded by an army of tireless, little yellow minions, we discover Gru (Steve Carell), planning the biggest heist in the history of the world. He is going to steal the moon (Yes, the moon!) in Universal’s new 3-D CGI feature, Despicable Me.
Gru delights in all things wicked. Armed with his arsenal of shrink rays, freeze rays and battle-ready vehicles for land and air, he vanquishes all who stand in his way. Until the day he encounters the immense will of three little orphaned girls who look at him and see something that no one else has ever seen: a potential Dad.
One of the world’s greatest super-villains has just met his greatest challenge: three little girls named Margo, Edith and Agnes.
