Christmas Parade

Here’s pictures from the Auburn Christmas parade yesterday. Monkey and Rob were on the float with Pack 29, but they were on the other side so you won’t see them in the pictures.

Welcoming Christmas

This morning we went up to Atlanta for the Children’s Christmas Parade. We really enjoyed the parade and it really got us in the Christmas spirit. Afterwards, we walked over to Peachtree Center and ate at El Ninfa’s for lunch. After that we headed back home so we could watch the SEC Championship game on TV.

Here are some pictures I took during the parade.

Roadtrip {Greenville, SC}

The weekend before Thanksgiving, we headed up to Greenville, SC for the final soccer tourney of this half of the season for TV Boy. We didn’t get out of town until after 6 because I had to work, which was fine. We had opted not to leave earlier, because we were trying to avoid Atlanta traffic. Our ride there was good, and happily arrived around 11 pm to our hotel. We stayed at the Hyatt Place.

Saturday we woke up bright and early to get out to the fields for an 8 a.m. game. The game ended in a tie. We went back to the hotel afterwards, for some more free breakfast and an nap! The bed was the most amazing bed I’ve ever had the pleasure of resting on. It puts my mattress to shame, which is something I thought I would never say! After hanging out at the hotel for a bit, we went to the mall for lunch and then back over to the fields for the second game.

After the 2nd game which ended for us in a loss, we went to the downtown area, where we walked through the infamous Falls Park on the Reedy River.

The place was literally crawling with photographers, who were doing portrait sessions. It was an absolutely amazing place with hundreds of different areas to use as backdrops.

We walked around a bit downtown, hunting a place to eat dinner, but everything seemed to be either very fancy or closed. We hopped back in the car and ended up eating at Don Pablo’s and then back to the hotel for some rest and watching of football.

The next day TV Boy played in the last game of the tourney and from there we went to the Greenville Zoo. Nice, small zoo nestled in a beautiful area.

After we were finished there, the kids played at the playground right outside of the zoo.

Then, got in the car headed towards home. Before getting too far we stopped at Sonny’s Barbeque for lunch.

Lil’ Man with Glasses

Earlier this month, Alex had to get glasses. We got a notice from the school recommending that he see the eye doctor, because preliminary eye screenings came out abnormal. Here he is and just as cute as ever.

Abby & Garcia

Rob and I DVR everything. When we got the DVR a few years ago, we never realized how it would revolutionize our TV watching. I think we’re able to watch 2-3 times the amount of TV that we used to. Skipping commercials and sometimes skipping stuff that’s boring or monotonous saves a ton of time. Working so much the DVR has been a “life-saver” or should I say a TV saver…literally! (I crack myself up!) Anyway, I had actually started writing this post waaaay back…don’t even remember when. So anyway, I’m thinking I need blog about TV more, because well…I’m fairly addicted to the stuff.

Out of all the TV that Rob and I watch, NCIS and Criminal Minds are two of our fav tv shows, respectively. But what I love most about these 2 shows are 2 of the quirkiest characters on TV. Just love, love, love them. In so many ways, they’re similar.

Pauley Perrette who plays “Abby” Scuito on NCIS

Abby decorates herself with pigtails, black dresses, black lipstick, black nails, anklets, toerings, and tattoos. Yes, she’s a bit Goth, which makes her character all that much better. Her passion, candor, and juvenility for using the evidence to help pinpoint the killer(s) is so refreshing. Her meticulousness, adoration of gore, and playing of loud music while conducting her investigations are all things that make me giddy as she appears on the screen.

The father-daughter relationship that’s exhibited between Abby and Gibbs is funny and one that I wasn’t expecting, but adds warm fuzzies to the otherwise brisk, dry humor of the show.

Kirsten Vangsness who plays Penelope “Garcia” on Criminal Minds

My other fav charater is on Criminal Minds and that would be the “all knowing” Garcia. Full figure, crazy hair, and bright colors sums up Garcia’s trademark appearance. She’s the Audio Visual Tech who stays back at the headquarters in Quantico.

Her flirty relationship with Morgan is one that puts butterflies in my stomach. The way he calls her by pet names like “hot stuff” or “baby girl”. And her jocular way of answering the phone, like, “All hail the goddess of information.” or “Rainmaker, how wet do you want it?”

If you haven’t treated yourself to these 2 characters on these shows, you really should! They to me both add a little bit of the WOW factor to their shows.

Reason #3,489 That I Love Living in a College Town

I love living in a college town. Every weekend there is always something to do. We actually don’t take advantage of that fact enough, but I after a recent date with Rob to a UPC event it made me cognizant of the fact that I should be looking at the calendar to see what’s going on.

So one night while looking I noticed that Diamond Rio was coming to town. For 5 bucks, I could go see this band that I’ve loved since high school. It was a great concert. I walked straight over to the Student Union right after work and hung out until they opened the room. I got a spot right on the front. The bass guitar player twittered some pics of us, one of which you see below.

At the Diamond Rio Concert
Here’s Diamond Rio’s Twitpic & Twitter.

I’ve been trying to remember the set list. Here’s what I remember so far:
Kissable, Huggable, Lovable, Unbelievable
Mirror Mirror
One More Day
Medley (Your Gone, Love a Little Stronger)
The Reason
God is There
In God We Still Trust
How Your Love Makes Me Feel
Medley (Leila, Carry on Wayward Sun)
Kentucky Mine

CrAziNeSs is…

…the new way of life for this household. I honestly can’t remember how much I’ve talked here about what’s been going on and on a normal day I would look back through my posts to see, but honestly…I’m too damn tired! *Did I just say that?* Anyway, I may not be writing here like I would like because I have no inspiration. I do find time at my evening job to read all my favorite blogs, one of which is still Rude Cactus, who I’ve read for years now. He wrote a thought provoking post about his daily schedule and life, so I told him I would be borrowing that idea. =)

5:30 Alarm clock goes off; I usually hop out of bed fairly quickly for a variety of different reasons one of which includes that Rob doesn’t get up when I do, so I try to turn it off to not wake him up. Waking up to the radio can be good, because it’s not so annoying, but I hate that the DJ starts to talk about TV shows from the night before. Um…hello, many people don’t watch LIVE TV these days. There is a thing called DVR! And I’m not one to hit SNOOZE, because the alarm clock is across the room, so once I’m up. I’m up.

5:35 – 5:55 Get dressed and do make-up and hair (which usually includes some powder and eye-liner and hair in a pony tail.)

5:55 – 6:00 Wake up the boys and make sure the 1st grader has clothes on his table for him to put on.

6:00 – 6:15 Pack my lunch, get a Diet Coke, and take my morning meds, fix breakfast for the boys (oatmeal, cereal, or toast. nothing fancy.)

6:15 – 6:20 Check my email and sign anything Rob didn’t sign for the boys the night before. Chat with the boys or run around looking for a shoe or jacket or a …. who knows!

6:20 – 6:25 Go to the bathroom, kiss Rob goodbye as he is still sleeping, and head out the door.

6:25 – 6:40 Drive to the school where I’m doing my long-term sub job about 10 miles away. Listen to the radio or CD depending on my mood. Eat a granola bar and finish my Diet Coke.

6:40ish – Arrive at school. Sign in, go to my classroom, make sure Math Morning Board is up, grade papers, check email, and as many other tasks that i can cram into the few minutes I have before the students come in.

7:00 – Students start coming in. They begin working on morning work and AR Reading and my day takes off at whirlwind speeds from there. I won’t bore you with my duties as a long-term sub, but there’s not much difference between what I’m going and what the regular teacher does, except the pay.

3:00 – As long as there are no meetings, I usually try to jet out of there as soon as I can. From there for the next couple of hours it’s not what I wish it to be some days, but what it must be as a mom. (Pick up monkey from Rob’s work. Go home, grab dinner. Change my shoes. Run one kid here, pick the other kid up there. Yadda, yadda, yadda. My lucky days are days I can sleep for a few minutes or at least lay on the couch and watch a little TV, but that’s a very rare occasion.) [[Fridays I head straight to my 2nd job for a couple hours to close. Usually home by 6:30.]]

5:15 or so – Head down the road to RBD aka Auburn University Library, where I work my 2nd job of the day. Depending on what I’ve gotten done before leaving I may run by a fast food eating establishment and grab some “oh-so-healthy-dinner.” Yah! Anyway, my job at the library is pretty easy. I get to work at the circ desk, help college students at the library, process new books, surf the net, and a variety of tasks. This is the temp job that I did last year from November until February.

6:00-10:30 – Do my thang at RBD

10:30 – Bolt out of there.

10:35 – Get home, bath, if Rob is awake we chat a little and maybe even watch a DVR’ed show, or sometimes go straight to bed.

So yah, my days lately pretty much consist of work, work, running around, and work. I hate that I’m not home in the evenings, to spend time with my family. I just feel right now, given this opportunity, it’s money I can’t turn down.
This doesn’t even begin to include the craziness that goes with the children, which I’ll talk about in another post…… Lateh
