57/365.2011 {Pinewood Derby}

Today was Monkey’s Pinewood Derby that he got to participate in. He’s watched his brother do it for many years. We set the bar kind of high considering he won the Pack Race and the District Race! ooops! Who knew his car would be so good?

I am not by any stretch of the imagination a “Tree Hugger,” but I do appreciate and am thankful for all things that Mother Nature provides. Due to the recent situation with the trees at Toomer’s Corner, I have a different perspective of nature and a new appreciation for it.

My Daybook for this Week {8}

Outside my window… beautiful spring-like weather.
I am thinking… of Toomer’s Trees and all the time, effort, and money being put into trying to save them. All because of an idiot! Read about it here.
I am thankful for… all the well-educated folks here in Auburn and all of the U.S. that are helping to save the tree.
Drew is… in his 2nd week of practice before time trials to determine if he makes the JV track team.
Alex is… working on a 1,000 piece puzzle he got while he was visiting the USS Alabama today.
From the kitchen… I hope to make something yummy.
I am wearing… my Bahamas T-shirt from our last cruise, denim capris, and flip-flops!
I am creating… many great lists and future posts. There’s just not enough time in the day to keep up.
I am going… to be more goal oriented (like I used to be.)
I am reading… The Southern Foodways Alliance Community Cookbook
I am hoping… to accomplish some of my goals of 101 in 1001 this week.
I am hearing… sounds of gossiping college students.
Around the house… I’m working on cleaning areas to accomplish some of my goals for 101 in 1001.
One of my favorite things… is burgers on the grill that Rob cooked this past weekend. Since Drew wasn’t here we had lots left over and I’ve been enjoying them for lunch each day. ha!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Monday:
Start working on my plan to meet my 101 in 1001.
Tuesday:
Work on finishing edits for portrait order that I need to place soon.
Wednesday:
Lunch with some girl friends.
Thursday:
Grocery store
Friday:
Help Rob at the Cub Scout Pack meeting.
Saturday:
Watch Alex race his car at the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby.
Sunday:
Church

51/365.2011 {Swing-N-a-Miss}

Today our family played a switcheroo. What I mean by that is Teenager has been gone all weekend with his Boy Scout Troop for their monthly camp out. This morning Rob and Monkey got up and headed down to Mobile to meet up with the rest of the Cub Scout Pack so that they can spend the night on the USS Alabama! So they left around 8:30 and around 10:30 Teenager got home. Teenager and I really enjoyed are day together. Hanging out and then later in the afternoon we went over to the ballpark to watch the Tigers play. He missed the 1st two games since he was camping. I’m not great at Baseball action shots. I don’t go to many of the games like Rob and Teenager do, so I don’t get the practice that I would need to get really good at it. I got a few over the weekend that I liked. Here’s one.
