It’s not like I don’t have enough to do, but I find these little things that irritate me that become my obsession until I do them. One of which is going through my old Xanga posts namely Travel posts and reposting them with pics and more cohesiveness. The first one I found after talking to some of my student workers about going to Mardi Gras in New Orleans. I looked back at my post from them and was like “GAG!” So here’s my first post recreation.
In January 2005, Rob and I went to Louisiana for the New Year. Auburn had gone undefeated that year in football and was playing in the Sugar Bowl. We decided to make a trip out of it, so we went a few days earlier and stayed with Rob’s family in Baton Rouge. They were also helpful in keeping the kids for us while we spent the day in New Orleans. Although, I driven right by it many times, this was my first experience there. I felt lucky to be to have seen it before Katrina hit later that year.
We got up pretty early for the 40 minute drive over to meet up with Rob’s Step Dad and brother.

We walked and walked and walked around New Orleans! We rode on a Street Car a couple times, which gave us a little break. Later that day we were very lucky to get into Cafe Du Monde for a snack of beignets and coke! With the Sugar Bowl crowd, it was packed.

That afternoon before the game we hung out around the Super Dome to see our Tigers arrive and cheer them on during Tiger Walk.

The lead singer from 3 Doors Down sang the National Anthem. And in the end, we pulled out a victory against the Virginia Tech Hokies!
After the game we were hungry so we wound up having dinner at:
