Fernbank Museum of Natural History

The last of our stops on our Atlanta Staycation was at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History. It’s quite impressive when you walk around the corner from the parking lot when you see the Dinosaur Plaza that shows off 3 dinosaur replicas.

After entering the main corridor, you see another impressive display that includes several replicas of dinosaur skeletons called Giants of the Mesozoic.

They had a special exhibit; Whales: Giants of the Deep that was absolutely amazing, but we were not allowed to take pictures. We learned about the evolution of whales as well as differences between whales, dolphins, porpoises, and more.

We also enjoyed the seeing the wild life and plant life that live in Georgia in the exhibit called A Walk Through Time in Georgia.

We really enjoyed the IMAX movie called Island of Lemurs: Madagascar. I learned a great deal about lemurs. The pygmy mouse lemur was so cute, only weighing in at 1 oz.

I think this is a great place to go once. Seeing all the dinosaur bones/replicas is fascinating and quite eye opening. I know they often have special displays that bring returning visitors. The IMAX was a huge reason why we decided not to forgo this part of our City Pass and it was well worth it.
