Friday

Drew, who now wants to be called Lil’ Man, has for the longest time wanted a garden. Well with all the woods in our backyard it doesn’t really lend itself to that. I’ve seen how tomatoes grow really well upside down. And instead of spending $20 on the Topsy Tomato planter we decided to make our own and recycle at the same time.

We used an empty ice cream container.

I cut a hole in the bottom.

In order to prevent the dirt from falling out of the bottom of the bucket we used some screen. At first I wasn’t sure what to use, but I found this roll of screen that I used for projects while teaching.

Then we filled the container with potting soil and added some water.

Flip the container upside down and since the screen didn’t have holes that would allow the plant to grow threw, we cut some slits into the screen. Next, we opened the package of seeds, pushed the seeds through the screen making sure the seeds were covered up with soil. (not pictured)

Should see some sprouting within a couple weeks!
